Lime13

The idea of a multi-functional bicycle audio device came from Mr. Zhang, a member of The Dream of Guangzhou Cycling Team, and a friend of our manufacturer. Mr. Zhang cycled with his team more than 500km across Malaysia in July 2015 to support the Beijing Olympic Winter Games at the scene of the International Olympic Committee’s 128th session in Kuala Lumpur. The team also traveled to Europe to support the London Olympic Games and cycled to the Korea to support the Incheon Asian Games. Their ongoing goal is to advocate a low carbon footprint through their cycling activities.

During these rides Mr. Zhang listened to MP3 music. Another team member asked to use the device to listen to radio, but Mr. Zhang’s device was limited to playing MP3.  Mr. Zhang was intrigued with the idea of a more versatile device, and began researching various bike products. He found products that were just lights, others just speakers, and all were limited to few functions and not configurable.  The idea for the Limelight Power Dock was born.

Your phone is more powerful than any wearable, is able to sync with Bluetooth (music, heart rate, cadence etc), is already configured with your favorite riding apps and is the most powerful computer available. It’s the perfect brain behind the Limelight

Your phone coupled with the power dock serves as a perfect touring computer. It has all the functions of your phone, GPS turn by turn directions, radio, music, internet, and adds a light, speakers to listen to music, radio or amplify calls and turn by turn directions. It has  a huge battery reserve to keep your phone going on those two day camping trips.

The manufacturer specializes in car, motorcycle and bike technology  used his expertise and experience to design the prototype.

My name is John Moubayed, I have been importing for 15 years, and I love to ride. On one of my recent trips to Hong Kong I found and fell in love with the Power Dock.  I often tour on my bike and have to stop for phone call, or need to pull out my phone for GPS directions. Always concerned about my battery, I used my GPS as I would a map. I’d pull it out for directions, then turn it off to conserve power.  But the need to have GPS visible and usable for extended periods of time was strong.  I never really considered a wearable because the battery life is poor as well.  The Limelight is perfect for a touring rider like me.

Working with the manufacturer we made some improvements in the design. A taller phone mount to accommodate fatter phones and cases. A handlebar mount that fits larger handlebars as well as mounting over the stem. New voice modules.

If you like long rides to new places or weekend trips exploring multiple destinations, or if you are in a more urban setting with many quick turns,  the Limelight Power Dock is perfect. With GPS on, most phone batteries last less than half a day. If you are using GPS for extended periods,  or camping overnight, your battery simply will not last. The Power dock gives you 150% more battery life to get you through a second day. It can be removed from your bike to serve as a charging station, camp light, or speakers for entertainment no matter where you stop.
